1. Who is responsible for this site

This website is operated by Wesler Valezi, author of The Son Who Didn't Forget. For privacy-related questions, please contact: wesler@thesonwhodidntforget.com

2. What data we collect and why

Email address and language preference — collected when you request the free PDF sample (the Preface) or the exclusive gift for readers of the book through the subscription form. This data is used to send you the requested file and, with your consent, to notify you of new articles published on this site.

Usage data — if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects data about your visit, including pages viewed, session duration, approximate geographic region, device type, and interactions. This data is associated with a randomly generated identifier and is processed by Google LLC on servers in the United States. It is used solely to understand how readers interact with the site. Google Analytics is not loaded unless you accept the cookie consent banner.

Platform interaction data — a script provided by GoDaddy (the platform that hosts this site) loads on every page visit and may collect click and navigation data to support platform analytics. This collection is governed by GoDaddy's own privacy policy.

Contact form. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the subject and your message, solely to reply to your request. Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering you (LGPD art. 7, IX; GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). These messages are kept for up to 12 months after the last exchange and then deleted.

Server logs. Server logs (IP address, date and time, requested URL) are kept for up to 6 months, for security and operation, and then deleted.

3. Legal basis for processing

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR / LGPD Art. 7, I) — by submitting the subscription form, you consent to receiving the PDF sample or the exclusive gift for readers of the book and, where indicated, future article notifications. By accepting the cookie consent banner, you consent to the loading of Google Analytics 4. You may withdraw either consent at any time.

Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / LGPD Art. 7, IX) — server logs and platform-level interaction data are processed on the basis of legitimate interest in operating and securing the site.

4. How we use your email

Your email address is used to deliver the free PDF sample (the Preface) or the exclusive gift for readers of the book that you requested, and to send occasional notifications when new articles are published on this site, if you subscribed to receive them.

We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Service providers

Resend (email delivery) — your email address is transmitted to Resend's servers to deliver messages. Resend is based in the United States. Data transfers are subject to Resend's Data Processing Agreement.

Google Analytics 4 (usage analytics, consent-gated) — if you accept analytics cookies, browsing data is processed by Google LLC in the United States. You may opt out at any time via the cookie preferences link in the footer, or via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

GoDaddy / Airo (hosting and infrastructure) — this site is hosted on GoDaddy's infrastructure. GoDaddy may process platform-level interaction data and retain standard server logs. This processing is governed by GoDaddy's privacy policy.

6. International data transfers

This site is operated from Brazil. Email delivery (Resend) and analytics (Google, if consented) involve transfers to servers in the United States. GoDaddy's infrastructure may also involve international transfers. These transfers are subject to the data protection commitments of each provider. We do not independently verify the specific contractual mechanisms in place at each provider; please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.

7. Data retention

Subscriber records (email address, language, consent date) are retained for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your notification consent is revoked and no further article emails will be sent. Your email address may be retained in our database to process future unsubscribe requests and prevent accidental re-subscription.

Analytics data retention is governed by Google Analytics' settings as configured in the associated Google account. We do not independently publish a specific retention period here.

Your cookie preference is stored in your browser's local storage for up to 365 days. You may change it at any time via the cookie preferences link in the footer.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent at any time; lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at wesler@thesonwhodidntforget.com.

9. Cookies and local storage

This site uses browser local storage (not HTTP cookies) to store your cookie consent preference under the key c2_analytics_consent. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may set its own cookies (_ga, _gid, and related identifiers) to distinguish users and sessions across visits.

A script provided by GoDaddy (the hosting platform) loads on every page and may use its own storage mechanisms as described in GoDaddy's privacy policy.

You can review or change your analytics preference at any time by clicking Cookie preferences in the footer. You may also disable cookies in your browser settings.

10. Unsubscribing from article notifications

Every article notification email contains an unsubscribe link. Clicking it opens a confirmation page; your unsubscription takes effect when you confirm on that page. After confirmation, no further article notification emails will be sent to your address.

You may also request removal by emailing wesler@thesonwhodidntforget.com.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Where a change materially affects how we process your personal data, we will take appropriate steps to inform you and, where required by law, obtain your consent before the change takes effect.
